This Isn't a Race - It's a Community Swim

The South Bay Swim for Mental Health isn't about finishing first. It's about showing up - for yourself, for your community, and for those whose lives have been touched by mental health challenges.

While many participants enjoy tracking their swim time, this is not a timed event. There are no official results, awards for speed, or pressure to race.

Swim at your own pace.

Take a moment to float and appreciate the ocean. Dive down and watch the fish. Stop for a snack. Swim alongside friends and family. Wear your snorkel if that's your style. Prefer fins? Bring them along! This is your journey.

Our start reflects the spirit of the day, too. Instead of a frantic mass start, we'll gather together on the beach before making our way into the water as a community. It's a calm, welcoming beginning that reminds us why we're here.

Whether you're swimming one mile, 5K, or 10K, every participant shares the same purpose: supporting mental health awareness, honoring those who have struggled, remembering loved ones we've lost, and helping create hope for others.

We believe the most meaningful finish isn't the one on a stopwatch—it's the one shared with friends, family, and a community that believes no one should face mental health challenges alone.

Come for the swim.

Stay for the people.

Leave knowing you were part of something bigger than yourself.

This event is for the community by the community. Too many of our family members, friends, relatives, and residents are affected by mental health issues. We are aiming to raise awareness of the issue and encourage healthy activities such as ocean swimming. As many of us know, the ocean heals. And as a community we can come together to make all of us stronger.
